Definitely gory, violent, and satanic. If you're into that sort of matter, this manga won't disappoint. As well, the classic manga female stereotypes use (schoolhouse daughter, big boobs, short skirts, super strong and ultra intelligent). I gave it a three simply because it is what it is, and doesn't endeavor to be anything else. I can respect that. The writer picked the theme he wanted and went with it, lol. Non my particular cup of java though; I drink information technology black but not this black. Definitely gory, violent, and satanic. If y'all're into that sort of affair, this manga won't disappoint. Too, the classic manga female stereotypes apply (school girl, large boobs, brusk skirts, super strong and ultra intelligent). This was full of that typical Japanese kink - i.due east. the lead character is a schoolgirl with giant boobs, a short brim and pigtails; whatsoever run a risk for the girls to exist topless is taken; and there'due south a couple of "adult male in lust with a teenager" scenarios - and that does tend to weird me out, but for the purposes of reading a manga without being exhausted by all the grossness, I decided to only suspend my feminist, western brain for a trivial while and roll with the cultural differences. And so, ignoring This was full of that typical Japanese kink - i.e. the lead grapheme is a schoolgirl with behemothic boobs, a short skirt and pigtails; any chance for the girls to be topless is taken; and there's a couple of "developed male person in lust with a teenager" scenarios - and that does tend to weird me out, merely for the purposes of reading a manga without being exhausted by all the grossness, I decided to only suspend my feminist, western brain for a little while and coil with the cultural differences. So, ignoring all that, I really really liked this book.
Information technology's pretty light on story and is split into very short "acts" that don't necessarily link to each other, but what standing plot there is was pretty gripping and the final showdown was groovy. I'yard really interested to meet where it's going to go in book 2 as I take no thought how information technology'south going to come up back from how information technology ended.
Reiko herself is a really cool character. I honey how she's this mature, clever, calm, cold, business organization-minded young woman, rather than a featherbrained, simpering schoolgirl, or some kind of hero who uses her power for skilful. For Reiko, it'south a job, simple as that, and that'southward quite a different take to the superheroes I'thou so used to reading.
The level of violence and gore is neat. For me, information technology'southward on a par with comics like The Walking Expressionless and Kick Ass which I loved reading the first time around for how graphic they were with all their deaths. Likewise, I loved seeing the contrast between this gorgeous, innocent looking fine art way and what was really going on in the frame; my favourite panel being one in which a guy's face is sliced in half, with a specially nice emphasis on his eyeball bursting. In that location are some pretty funny moments as well, which rest out the horror elements really nicely.
All in all, for my get-go proper foray into manga, it was a fine identify to commencement. ...more

I found Reiko the Zombie store completely by accident. I found information technology past fooling around on some website and I believe information technology was used equally an example for something. I became intrigued with the paradigm shown (which turned out to be the comprehend prototype for Volume 6 of the series) and found myself wanting to read it. I bought the first volume and while waiting for it to make it, I went to a used book store. I was looking around in the clearance section and lo and behold, I constitute the second volume of Reiko. It was almost like it was meant to exist. Reiko is about composed of short picayune stories or arcs revolving around Reiko'southward adventures equally the "Zombie Shop". At that place is a main plot, simply it is spread out through the volumes. There are 12 volumes in total, but unfortunately Dark Horse stopped translating information technology half-way through and there are no scans online. The only manner I would be able to finish the serial would be if I knew French or Japanese. The art is very unique in my opinion - I've never seen anything similar it. I actually enjoyed the 6 volumes I read and promise someone eventually translates the balance. Perhaps in the future, I could do it myself if I actually had the drive to. ...more

Entertaining. I particularly enjoyed the characters disposition towards beingness paid for her efforts - this is quite different to the usual heroine model.
The 2d and one-half the third volume are more traditional in their good vs evil plot, and so information technology wanders in and out - pretty randomly.
I desire a Puripon.
